Muriel Ann Gamache, 73, of Champlain, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 18th, 2015 following a long illness. She was born in Plattsburgh on August 11th, 1942, the daughter of Keith and Beulah (Brooks) Hogle. Muriel served as a member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Mary's Church in Champlain where she was also a communicant. She participated in several committees to benefit the church and St. Mary's Academy when her children attended. Muriel was a life-long member of the Mooers Alumni Association, and served as treasurer of the organization for many years. Her strong work ethic provided her with many local employment opportunities, including employment at Delagar and Wyeth-Pfizer. Following her retirement, she continued to work at area businesses, such as La Pet Store and ICE Jewelry in Champlain. Throughout her life, Muriel developed and held many dear friendships, which helped sustain her during her lengthy battle with cancer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends doing a variety of crafts, baking, and tending to her many plants and flower gardens. She had a passion for animals, especially her two loving Shih-Tzu dogs, Willy and Gidget. In addition to her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her brothers, Larry and Carlton Hogle. She is survived by her husband, Clifton Gamache, Sr. and their five children, Bryan of Plattsburgh, NY, Leland of Everett, WA, Carlton of Altona, NY, Clifton Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Altona, NY, and Monique Cooper and husband, Russell, of Fort Drum, NY, and six grandchildren, Adam, Kristopher, Jamie, Nichole, Brandon, and Mackenzie, and one great-granddaughter, Emma. She is also survived by brothers, Darrel Hogle and wife, Peggy, and Keith Hogle and wife, Jean, and her sisters, Jeannie LaMere and husband, Tom, and Lyla Hogle. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. A Calling Hour will be held from 10:00-11:00AM on Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Street, Champlain, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. William G. Reamer, celebrating the Mass. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery on Prospect Street. Contributions in Muriel's memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street, Champlain.
