Obituary of Darrell Joseph Mesec

Darrell Joseph Mesec Sr. 80, of the Tallman road Champlain NY passed away on July 31, 2016 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Darrell was born in Champlain May 27, 1936, the son of Felix and Bertha (Belrose) Mesec. Darrell graduated from CCS school in Champlain and served in the U.S. Army in Korea and later the reserves. Darrell married Nancy E. Pelkey on October 31, 1959 at St. Marys' church in Champlain. Darrell was loved and known by many as he worked at Chazy orchards, Sheridan iron works, the foundry, and the D & H Railroad. He also worked doing maintenance at carrier apts., and worked the family sawmill with his Father and brothers, eventually started his own logging business where he showed his children, sons-in-laws, and grand-children the value of a dollar, to always work hard, and to be honest. Time spent with Darrell was precious to all. Darrell also built Art's Sawmill in Champlain and later worked for Ollie Burgess at speciality wood products in Bloomingdale, NY, along with lending his expertise in building many homes in the area. His pleasures were playing the lottery and he was the NY Yankees number one fan. Survivors include his wife Nancy, one son Darrell J. Mesec Jr., of Champlain, Three daughters Laura L. Fresn of Rouses Point, Kim A. Breyette and husband Ralph and Lisa L Grimshaw and companion Kenneth H. Clausen both of Mooers, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters Claudette Goldsmith of Syracuse, Veronica and William Labombard and Carmen Langley both of Champlain, one sister in law Carolyn of Boston, Ma, four brothers Russell and Michelle Mesec, Donald and Deborah Mesec both of Champlain, Reginald and Deborah Mesec of West Chazy and Ronald Mesec of Rouses Point, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply. Darrell was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Douglas of West Chazy, Claudius of Norwalk, CA, and one brother-in-law Charles Langley of Champlain.
