Obituary of Kathleen Elizabeth Quinn

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen E. Quinn, 69, of Lake Placid, NY passed away peacefully on September 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer during which she never complained. Born June 2, 1948 in New Rochelle, New York, she was the daughter of the late Nicolas A. and Patricia (Walker) Quinn. Following her graduation from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, Kathy obtained a bachelor's of science in Mathematics from Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island in 1970. She resided on the Upper West Side of New York City and had a long career as a computer systems analyst with Law Enforcement Systems, Inc. While living in New York, she was a communicant of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament where she was very involved in various parish ministry projects. In 2012, Kathy retired to Lake Placid so that she could be near family, whom she treasured deeply. Kathy was an accomplished and prolific baker. She loved treating family and friends to her homemade delights and many people locally were the recipients of this kindness. No one made a better chocolate chip cookie. She often joked that growing up with 7 brothers, it was always necessary to bake two dozen cookies before really starting, because at least that many would disappear as soon as they came out of the oven. Kathy had the Irish "gift of gab". She loved to visit and tell stories, and she was the family historian. Kathy was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America #2183. She also volunteered as an Election Inspector for the Essex County Board of Elections. Kathy was the only daughter in a family of 7 sons. As the second oldest child, she was her mother's right hand and an "extra mother" to her brothers, helping to shuttle them to sports, lessons and school. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by three brothers: Jimmy, Thomas and Jeremy. She is survived by her beloved family: her brother Barrett and his wife Stephanie, her brother Michael and his wife Beth, her sister-in-law Geanetta, her brother Sean, her brother Andrew and his wife Amy and her sister-in-law Sheryl. She is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, as well as 2 great-nieces and a great-nephew. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21st at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid, with Rev. John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will follow at Norton Cemetery in Keene, NY. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in Kathy's memory to the American Cancer Society. Relatives and friends are invited to share a memory, order flowers, upload a photo, or leave condolences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com . .
