Obituary of Sandra A. Beauregard

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sandra A. "Sandy" Beauregard, of Champlain, N.Y. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday December 17, 2012. Sandy was born in Watertown, New York, January 25, 1951 to the late Julie (Picarelli) Stokes and the late Bruce Stokes. She was the oldest of nine siblings. Sandy reunited with her high school love, after being separated for 44 years, and on July 22, 2001 she married Julien D. Beauregard, who survives her. Sandy was a Registered Nurse who spent her life caring for others. She found particular joy in working in hospital nurseries and providing home health nursing services to children and disabled individuals. She also found value in her work, and the special friendships that she found while working at Planned Parenthood in Plattsburgh, NY. Out of a pure love of learning, Sandy continued her education at Plattsburgh State University and obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1999, graduating Cum Laude. In her teens, Sandy was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, enjoyed "co-piloting" her fathers' Piper Tri-pacer airplane, water skiing, and snow skiing. In her twenties Sandy taught herself how to play guitar and was a member of a folk band. In her thirties, she became a certified Jazzworks instructor and enjoyed teaching aerobics to others. She also loved hiking and camping. In more recent years she developed a love for painting and enjoyed watching football and doing crossword puzzles. In the eyes of those closest to her, Sandy was one of the most accepting and nonjudgmental individuals in the world, and was forever a free spirit. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Danny, two nieces Alison and Jamie, and her beloved dogs Princess and Poncho. Sandy is survived by her loving brothers and sisters, with whom she shared a unique and unbreakable bond. They are Karen Cameron of Alburgh, Vermont, Laurie Juiliani, Michael Stokes, and Janice Countryman all of Watertown, New York, Kim Bigelow of Lorraine, New York, Mark Stokes of Rochester, New York, and Jon Stokes of Dexter, New York. Sandy also leaves her cherished extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and close friends. Sandy will be deeply missed by her ever supportive son, Eli Quinn of Albuquerque, NM; her ever loving daughter Sunshine Turner, her adored son-in-law Jason Turner, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Alexa and Ashton Turner, of Rouses Point, NY. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at 12:00 on Saturday December 22, 2012 at the American Legion Post 912, Pratt Street in Rouses Point, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's memory to the Hospice of the North Country, 385 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, New York 12901. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street, Champlain, NY 12919. To light a memorial candle and to share a thought or memory, please visit www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com and click obituaries.
