Philip Heller

Philip Heller, 76, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. He was a recent resident of Elderwood of Uihlein. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Carolee Heller, a New York City school teacher, who he met at a dance in 1969. He also leaves behind his daughters, Laurie Heller and Dr. Tracy Heller; his son Michael Heller and wife Nadja, his grandson, Malcolm; his sister, Susi Lynn; nephews, Steven and Michael; niece, Debbie; and five grand-nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, the son of Al and Mollie Heller. He attended Columbus High School and New York University. He worked as a sales representative for various companies in NYC. Eventually, he sold antiques and collectibles and owned his own store, Memories. He managed The Corner Store in Lake Placid and Nice N Easy in Saranac Lake. He also spent time as a CNA at Uihlein. He was an avid reader, golfer, and ball buster. He was an International Luge Federation (FIL) judge. And, he cherished the time spent with his son playing and attending baseball games. His daughters could always count on him for a ride anytime day or night. He was an active participant in the lives of his nieces and nephews, acting like a second father and taking them fishing, clamming, and to concerts. He was quick with a joke and took the time to connect with others. He was a very special man with a great affection for family. He was a gem of a human, a titan of a man, and a force of life and mischief. There will be no services. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Relatives and friends are invited to share a memory or leave condonences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com
