Virginia M. Guay of Rouses Point, NY died September 6 at University of Vermont Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. Virginia was born July 10, 1939 in Rouses Point, the daughter of Earl and Ruth Legnard. She married Robert Guay on September 2, 1961. She worked as a secretary and receptionist at F.W. Myers, Northeastern Clinton Central School District, and Delagar Products. She will be remembered as a devoted and caring mother who, along with her husband, raised three sons, and as a grandmother who loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by son Terrence and wife Pattie Guay of State College, PA, son Wayne and wife Eileen Potash of Philadelphia, PA, granddaughter Jewely Guay of Pinetops, NC, granddaughter Haley Guay of Washington, DC, granddaughter Laura Guay of Harrisburg, PA, grandson Nathan Guay of Ithaca, NY, great-grandchildren Enola Guay and Elan Guay of Pinetops, NC, sister Shirley Bechard of Rouses Point, brother George Legnard and partner Faith Lamberton of Rouses Point, sister-in-law Theresa Venne of Plattsburgh, sister-in-law Bernadette Halstead of Peru, brother-in-law Frank Guay and wife Sue of Middletown, NY, sister-in-law Mary Ann Coopy and husband Bill of Remsen, NY, 15 nieces and nephews and their families, and long-time friends Theresa and Noel Hinerth and Linda and Bruce Gaudette of Rouses Point. Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years Robert C. Guay, son Neil Guay, grandson Robert A. Guay, parents Earl and Ruth Legnard, brother Earl Legnard, and dear friend John Rowe. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point on Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of the UVM-CVPH in Plattsburgh and Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro for their services and care over the past two months.
