Bruce was fortunate, he grew up with Pat & Chappy in his life until his family moved to Arizona. He has shared so many memories with his family of those times. We have always felt close to them because of that. I do recall on one of our visits, Bruce and I were lucky enough to spend a day helping Pat (Patsy as Chappy called her) at the Senior Center. We were helping prepare and serve lunch. In fact, Onita was there also. Poor Pat, she was stuck trying to graciously accept help from three well meaning but fumbling volunteers! She never got frustrated with us, instead, patiently directed us on how to prepare things to her high standards. She loved all of her “friends” and greeted each one with a hug and kind word. I’ll never forget how much respect I ended up having for her that day and how fortunate the people were who took part in the meal program. There are many other memories but that one in particular is an example of the love and compassion she had for others. Through other visits I learned how to help and support her in the kitchen at home that was hopefully less stressful. We will all miss her but are so glad to have those amazing memories of time with her.
