"Papa" Holzer was more than just a neighbor, he was a friend. He would be the first one to pull you out of a ditch if you were stuck. Rest in peace Mr. Holzer. You will be missed.

Looking at Mark's photo, he is so alive. Mark was full of life, he loved life, he loved his family, and Adirondacks. He was saying why should I be anywhere else - Adirondacks is the most beautiful place on Earth, and he was right. Mark was an artist, I will cherish always his beautiful Adirondack furnitures that he made. He was happy that his talents were inherited by his children. Every time Mark came over we talked about everything, families, politics, history, Adirondacks, and many other engaging topics. Mark was interesting and also interested in other people. He paid attention, he was kind, helpful and a creative problem solver. We will miss you Mark dearly, and today we are joining your Family in great sorrow.

A really good man and the best stone mason north of Albany. A good father, a good neighbor, and was always kind to me and my family. You will be missed, my friend, and all of Wilmington is saddened by your leaving too soon.

My deepest condolences to the whole family of Mark. With great sadness I've learned about Mark's passing. I still cannot quite comprehend it - that it was justi n January when we shared our usual full of humor chat.
I have known Mark since we bought our Adirondack camp in 2002 and he was caretaker of the camp, but much much more. Mark was a friend, simply great guy, full of life (no matter what health problems stood on his way) warm and compassionate. You could always count on Mark!
I will always remember all his ideas about how to make our camp great, what to add, what to fix and his incredible passion for building. Nothing was ever a problem for Mark. He was an artist and a builder. He was also a bit of a philosopher and very smart one - every conversation with Mark was memorable and I will keep his stories and laugh at them as long as I live.
Mark loved his family, his dearest wife Sue and his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Adirondacks for me will never be the same without Mark.
Rest in Peace my Friend!
Tomasz

Mark worked with us at Whiteface Ski Center some years ago... His time there resulted in some beautiful, lasting stone work, at the ski center (the fireplaces and the Entrance Sign), the Toll House bridge over the Stevens Pond outlet, and up at the castle. More importantly, he brought a sense of humor and a quick laughter that was contagious to all of us who worked with him. Our shop missed him when he left us.
I am so sorry for your loss....
