George "Chip" Button III
George "Chip" Button III, 58, of Lake Clear, NY died early Tuesday morning, June 4, 2013 in Saranac Lake, NY.
Born June 9, 1954 in Englewood, NJ, he was the son of Elizabeth "BJ" Button of Lake Placid, NY and Vero Beach, FL and the late George Button II.
Chip lived in Lake Clear for the last 12 years with his fiance, Kathy Archacki and his wonderful pets, Ethyl, Lucy and Baby Kitty, where he was self -employed as a maker of fine cabinets. He was a man of many talents, skilled not only in woodworking but also in electronic devices. He was employed also as a sound engineer for various musical groups.
He loved hunting in the Adirondacks, was a talented gardener, award winning skeet shooter and lover of animals of all types. His favorite times were spent touring and showing the Antique 1914 Model T Depot Hack which was built by his father George, and with which he won numerous awards and trophies. He was a member of the Malone Automobile Club and the Tri-Lakes Cruiserz.
Chip grew up in Alpine, NJ. He attended the Saddle River Country Day School in NJ and graduated from RETS Technical School in Florida. He served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by, in addition to his mother and fiance Kathy, his sister Totney, her husband Rick Benson, their son RB, of Westport, Connecticut, his brother Trace Button and his wife Sherry of Wilmington, NY.
Calling hours will take place from 5 to 7 pm Friday June 7, 2013 at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY. Grave side services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St John's of the Wilderness Cemetery in Lake Clear, NY at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society or the Humane Society of your choice.
