Richard (“Dick”) Floyd Ashline, 88, of Chazy, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 27, 2024. Dick was born in Champlain, NY, to Floyd and Irene (Barriere) Ashline, the son of a farmer.

Dick had strong work and family ethics, as he spent over twenty years working two full-time jobs to support his family; as a delivery driver for Rosebud Creamery in Plattsburgh and as a handyman for Chazy Hardware in Chazy, where he and his wife raised their family. After his kids were grown, Dick slowed down to one full-time job as a maintenance manager for Meadowbrook Nursing Home and one part-time job as a self-employed handyman until his retirement. In retirement, Dick continued to serve local residents as a handyman until his illness which took him home with God.

Although Dick left the farm as a teenage boy, his passion for tractors never waned. He even bought a full-size tractor for his ¼ acre of land on his home in Chazy so he could reconnect with his childhood passion for John Deere tractors.

Dick had a laugh that everyone loved and adored. Especially his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved to joke around with.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Ebere) Ashline of sixty-seven years, whose cooking he loved (especially her French Sliders and strawberry shortcake). He also leaves behind many family members who will miss him deeply, such as his two sons, Rick (Diane) Ashline of Peru, Alex Ashline (Debbie Wilhelm) of Plattsburgh, granddaughters Emily Ashline (Heiko Korbanek) of Dannemora, Elissa of Chazy, his grandson Eric (Alexandra Barie) Ashline of Rouses Point, great-grandchildren Noah, Lucie, and Reece, and numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him “the most” out of all their uncles. Lastly, his all-time favorite brother-in-law, Larry Ebere (Penny Castine) of Plattsburgh.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Irene Ashline, his brothers Lionel and Rudolph, and his nephew Scott Ashline.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
