Sybil Jayne Bath

Sybil Jayne Bath, 85, previously of Lake Placid, NY, died Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Commonwealth Senior Living, in Berryville, Virginia.

Mrs. Bath was born July 21, 1939, in Riverhead, New York, the daughter of the late Algernon B. Jayne and Ruth Tuthill Jayne. She was the fifth of six children; four of whom have predeceased her.

She was married to her husband of 38 years, Dale Bath, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2021. She and Dale worked for many years as the sextons of Adirondack Community Church. She was happiest when reading a good mystery, tending to the flowers in her garden, and writing her own books.

She is survived by two daughters, Robin (Chris) Laybourne of Purcellville, Virginia and Debra Bombard of AuSable Forks, New York; stepson, Mark (Lisa) Bath of Lady Lake, Florida; stepdaughter, Laurie Bath of Lake Placid, New York; three grandchildren, Erica, Marcus, and James; one great grandchild, Ayden; and a sister, Susanne Ketner of Middletown, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, New York with burial to follow at North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid, New York. Rev. Derek Hansen will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Adirondack Community Church, Alzheimer’s Association or the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
