Chazy James D. "Jim" Langevin, 71, of Bison Street, Chazy, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Champlain, NY October 12, 1941 son of the late Armand and Gertrude (Ives) Langevin. Jim worked at Sheridan Iron Works and Harris Graphics in Champlain until it closed in the late 1980's. He retired from the Town of Chazy with over 17 years of service where he worked as a truck driver. He also worked for R.W. Cheeseman and Marv's Lawn and Garden for many years. Following retirement, Jim worked for Chazy Central Rural School as a custodian, Prim Hall as a mechanic and Beeman Trucking in Chazy. He married the former Josephine M. Miner October 13, 1962 at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Together, the couple resided in Chazy to raise their family. Jim was very involved as a member of the Chazy Fire Department with over 50 years of dedicated service, where he served many offices and was a past chief. He was named Fireman of the Year in 1967-1968. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Jim had a passion for driving trucks and trading cars and would love to spend time in his shop at home working on various projects. He enjoyed woodworking and small engine repair as a hobby, NASCAR, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, cooking outdoors and dining out. His loving family includes his wife of 50 years, Josephine Langevin of Chazy, his son Allen J. Langevin of Champlain, his daughter Amy E. Aborn and husband John of Chazy, his daughter-in-law Jeannie Langevin of Champlain, his brother Leo Langevin and wife Norma and their son, Armand of Chazy, and his grandchildren Bethany and Jonathan Aborn, Allyson and Ashley Langevin, and Jordan Fuller. In addition to his parents, Jim, was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Lisa Marie and Laurie Ann. Calling Hours will be on Monday, June 17th from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Church Street, Chazy, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am Monday, at the church with Rev. Raymond J. Moreau, pastor, celebrating the mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Arrangements are in the care of M.B.
