Obituary of Gerald Donald Edgley

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerald (Jerry) D. Edgley died unexpectedly on September 10th, 2024 at the age of 66. Jerry is preceded by his parents Donald & Agnes Edgley. He is survived by his sister Karen Sullivan (Jim), his brother Leonard Williams (Kathleen), nieces Lauren Follett (Zach) and Hannah Tanalski (Adam) and nephews Travis Tomich (Maya) and Jesse Williams. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Lake Placid and was always proud to share about its history. He attended LPHS and Northwood School for postgraduate and RIT for 1 year. In the lead up to the 1980 Winter Olympics, Jerry played a hands-on role in the preparation for the games. After the Olympics, Jerry became a dedicated ski patroller at Mount Whitney. Throughout his life, one of Jerry's great passions was soccer. He was not only a key player for the Arena Gorillas and later the Lake Placid Express, but also helped shape young athletes as one of the original coaches at the Mountain View Soccer Camp. His different careers included working alongside his father in his electrical business, years in the construction trade and at the unexpected time of his death, Jerry was employed at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid. He loved his hometown and would often be seen going for a drive through Main Street waving to all of his local friends. When he chose to travel you could find him either in NYC, learning about its history and enjoying its unique attractions, or somewhere on a beach enjoying the ocean. Jerry loved to gather and cook for holidays such as Thanksgiving and St Patrick's Day to celebrate his love of his Irish heritage. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, passion for conversation, athleticism and unwavering love for his family and friends. There will be calling hours held at the M. B. Clark Funeral Home on September 27th from 4-6 pm, followed by a reception at the American Legion Post 326, Lake Placid, NY.
