To the family of Dr.Welch ,I send my deepest condolences to lol of you. I had heard of him for many years while working at Wilton DDSO. Yet I never met him in person until 2006, while accompanying an individual for a visit with him. He warm so warm and kind and treated all the folks with great respect. He left an impression on me that I will forever hold dear.

I worked with Dr. Welch when he came to the Wilton developmental center. I typed personally for his own practice outside of my employment at the developmental center. I had never worked for a doctor before and when trying to decipher his notes off a recorder, I sometimes didn’t always get it right. I would have to say I made him laugh many times with my mistakes. I was young and supporting my young family, and Dr. Welch gave me an opportunity for well over a year for extra income. Doctor Welch was a great man. He will certainly be missed..

Dr. Welch hired me in 1974 at GFH. I was the first Physical Therapist Assistant there so he really gave my career a start. I went on to work in my field, mostly at GFH for 40 years. Thanks, doc.

Dear Mary and family,
I am so saddened to hear about Dave's death. What a giant in physiatry he was and what a mentor to me. Dave was the guiding light in forming our Young Leader's' training program at AAPMR, something that was truly meaningful to him and continues to flourish.
I will remember him always - wisdom, gentleness, passion, and compassion - really a giant of a man in all ways.

Dave left a lasting legacy in the medical community. I first met Dave accidently while skiing the trail to Avalanche pass while I was a resident physician. He invited me and my friend to dinner and we immediately hit it off. Two years later I joined Dave in practice straight out of residency. He was the perfect person to learn from. He always put the patient's needs first. He was not concerned if a person could pay for their care, the priority was always helping the patient. It was immediately apparent how well he was respected amongst his peers and his patients. His patients adored him and he went above and beyond for them. He would routinely do house calls and spent as much time as was needed with each patient. His patients still ask for him to this day. He was a good friend and a mentor to me. To some of his patients he was their best friend. He taught me things that you never learn in medical school about the importance of community and caring for all of your patient's needs. The entire North country has loss a tremendous force for good. Mary and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad I made the decision to join him in practice. It was one of the best decisions in my life. His legacy will live on in the medical community through Adirondack Rehabilitation Medicine.
Todd Jorgensen, M.D.
