Robert P. Thompson, age 85, of Lake Placid, NY died Friday, August 23, 2013 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. Mr. Thompson was born July 26, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA , the son of the late William J. and the late Anne (Gormley) Thompson. He moved to Lake Placid, NY in the 1950's where he lived for the next 50 + years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked for the Village of Lake Placid Highway Department, and during his employment Bob enjoyed plowing and shoveling the homes of the senior citizens. He retired from the village after 30 years. He is survived by his wife: Harriet Miller, of Lake Placid, NY ; one son, William J. Thompson of Lake Placid, NY; one sister, Margaret Bryne of Philadelphia, PA; one grandson, Tiernan R. Thompson of Lake Placid, NY; and two nieces, Theresa Romagano and Margaret Moloney; two nephews, William Thompson and Robert Thompson. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother William Thompson. There are no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
