Betty Jane (Jacques) Reid, 80 of Lake Placid, NY, wife of Frederick N. Reid, passed away on November 15 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY with her family and children at her side. Betty was born in Lake Placid, NY February 11, 1933 to Charlotte and Donald Jacques, Sr. and graduated Lake Placid Central School in 1953. She was married to Frederick N. Reid on August 10, 1953 at the Adirondack Community Church and worked at Uihlein Mercy Center for 25 years as a Nurses Aid and later as a cook for the nuns in the convent. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and a member of the Adirondack Community Church and choir for many years. Betty was an avid volunteer for the Lake Placid Youth Athletic Association and volunteer for the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid. Betty is survived by her husband Frederick, of Lake Placid; three sons: Ronald and his wife Melissa of Lake Placid; David and his wife Cindie of Deland, FL; Mark and his wife Diane of Monroe, NY and one daughter, Elizabeth Ann and her husband Michael Quinn of Saranac Lake, NY. Betty was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Corey and his wife Shannon Goff Reid of Ausable, NY; RJ and Morgan Reid (Ronald and Melissa) of Lake Placid, NY; Stephanie Reid Nickell and her husband SGT Brian Nickell 5th Group Special Forces Support Fort Campbell, KY; Emilie Reid (David and Cindie) of Deland, FL; Adam Reid (Mark and Diane) of Monroe, NY; Nicholas, Macayla, Gabrielle and Elijah all of Saranac Lake, NY. Betty is also survived by one great grandchild, Hannah Reid (Corey and Shannon) of Ausable, NY. Betty was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Jacques, Jr and Ellis W Jacques both of Lake Placid, NY. Betty is survived by four sisters: Connie Preston, Janet Clark, June Preston and Virginia Warrington all of Lake Placid as well as several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lake Placid Youth Athletic Association in her memory at Post Office Box 129, Lake Placid, NY 12946. There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, NY on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm, Rev. John Martin will officiate.
