John H. Savarie, Jr., age 65, of Lake Placid, NY passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at home. Mr. Savarie was born November 4, 1948 in Glens Falls, NY the son of John H. and Virginia (Wilson) Savarie.
John was a Veteran, serving 23 months in Vietnam during his Service in the Navy. He served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1973 and transferred to the United States Air Force in 1972 and he served his country until 1976. John had worked for the Village of Lake Placid and loved his job taking care of the village. He retired from Village Of Lake Placid, NY as Heavy Equipment Operator on June 30, 2013. John was a member of Craig Wood Golf and Country Club and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He was an Exempt Member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department serving from 1991 to 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debra (Guffey) Savarie, of Lake Placid, NY; his father, John Savarie, Sr. of Beaufort, SC. John is also survived by three siblings, Joanne Warner and her husband Ivan of Saranac Lake, NY; Michael Savarie and his wife Linda of Saranac Lake, NY, and Margaret Barney and her husband Gary of Lake Placid, NY. He is also survived by his very special sister-in-law Barbara Faye Howle of Oxford, AL, several nieces and nephews, close friends Bernie and Debbie Baillargeon of Lake Placid, NY, his "adopted" daughter, Ursula Villiancourt and her husband Michael of Tupper Lake, NY and his Yorkshire Terrier Nicky.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, November 27th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Dept. Prayer Service at 6:45 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc., Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY. Burial will be in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC at a later date.
