Obituary of Ward Guy Wilbur

Ward Guy Wilbur, 65, of Adirondack Loj Rd., Lake Placid, NY passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 25, 2013 in Saranac Lake, NY. He was born in Lake Placid, NY December 28, 1947 the son of Ward E. Wilbur and Dorice (Wescott) Torrance. Ward was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1965, he attended Plattsburgh State University prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force. Ward loved fishing, reading and watching ball games on Sunday with his mother. He was a house painter by trade, painting houses around the Tri-Lakes Area. Ward was very good with his computer and much of the time you could find him working on it, he was also an excellent horticulturist. Ward is survived by his mother Dorice Torrance; five sisters, Alta Dostal and her husband Arthur, Carol Hoffman and her husband Doug, Lynda Rooney and her husband Michael, Brenda Erickson and her husband Steven and Janet Good; two brothers, Arti Torrance, and Loren Torrance and his wife Laurie. He was also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Ward E. Wilbur; his step-father, Loren Torrance; his sister, Marsha Davis; his maternal grandparents, Guy and Alta Wescott; his paternal grandmother, Alice Phillips; his paternal step-grandparents, Walter and Marie Torrance. Calling hours will be held at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY on Saturday, November 30th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. John Martin, Pastor of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid will officiate. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to The Adirondack Community Church or the Lake Placid Vol. Fire Dept. in his memory.
