Randy Douglas Martin Lake Placid - Randy Douglas Martin, 59 of 41 Colden Avenue, Lake Placid passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born on March 6, 1954 in Nyack, New York, he was the son of the pre-deceased Gloria and Eugene Martin, Sr. of Lake Placid. Randy attended Lake Placid High School as well as University of New Haven. Randy was currently employed as a bartender at the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery. Previous employment included: painting, cooking, construction, waiter and working for the 1980 Olympic Committee. He loved to volunteer for many local sporting events including NCAA, ECAC and USA Hockey Tournaments. During his high school years, he played hockey, football and baseball. He also played for the Lake Placid Express Soccer Club along with his younger brother, John. His interests were walking around Mirror Lake, visiting with friends and people on Main Street. He was an avid sports fan following all disciplines of Lake Placid High School sports as well as CVAC football. Randy was also infamous for knowing scores and stats from around the state. He enjoyed going with friends to enjoy the wildlife of the Adirondacks. One of his longest pastimes was bird watching. Randy was a dog-lover, often seen with Maggie, his black lab, and Butch, Lori, and Lorissa's dog, Hunter. Randy was a gentle soul, known to everyone in the community, and was a friend to all. Randy is predeceased by his parents, Gloria and Eugene R. Sr., and younger brother, John. He is survived by his brother, Butch, his wife, Lori and their daughter, Lorissa of Lake Placid and brother Tom, his wife, Debra and their children, Derrik and Nicole as well as his great-nephew, Jake William of Pearl River, New York. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th at the M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18th at St. Eustace Episcopal Church, 2450 Main Street in Lake Placid. Rev David Ousley will officiate. The family is asking that donations be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake, and the Lake Placid Youth Athletic Association in Randy's memory.
