Obituary of Charles Vincent Monette
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Vincent Monette, 63, of Northern Tier Way, Champlain, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday, December 16, 2013 from complications of a heart condition.
He was born on June 9, 1950 to Geraldine Joyce (Colbath) and Harry Joseph Monette and spent most of his early life on the family dairy farm in Mooers, New York. Charlie attended Mooers Central School and, although he left early, he later completed courses toward obtaining his high school equivalency diploma.
Charlie faced many challenges in life, but always persevered. In the years following his father's illness and disability, Charlie worked at whatever jobs he could find and helped his family as he could. Charlie was a hard worker, always giving more than an honest day's work. In one of the last positions he held prior to his retirement, he was honored as "employee of the year".
Although he spent some years away, Charlie loved the North Country and returned to live the last 22 years of his life here. He enjoyed Muskie fishing, bike riding and working on cars. Charlie loved his family and many friends at Northern Tier Housing and in the community. Charlie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sisters Ellen Monette of Hiram, Maine, Margaret Monette of Glens Falls, New York, and Bernadette Monette of West Baldwin, Maine, and a brother Thomas Monette of Leander, Texas.
There will be no formal services at this time. Family and friends will gather in Champlain in the early summer for a celebration of his life.
Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, NY. To light a candle by sharing a memory or condolence please visit www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.
