Obituary of David Edward Baker

David Edward Baker, of Wilmington, NY passed away February 23, 2014 at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. He was born in Glens Falls NY on September 20, 1940 the son of Horace and Madeline Ormsby Baker. He was the beloved husband of Jean Rawlin Baker for 47 years, loving Father of Four Children: Mary Beth (Patrick) Pulver of Valatie, NY; Kate Baker of Clifton Park, NY; David Jr. (Yuliya) Baker of Clifton Park, NY and Michael (Mary) Baker of Tupper Lake NY, proud Grandfather of: Emily Pulver, Sasha (Alexandra) Baker, and Christopher Baker, six siblings: Mary Jo (Fran) DeFilippis of Nassau, NY; Horace (Kathy) Baker of Bolton Landing, NY; Kate (Roger) Summerhayes of St. Croix, V.I; Megan, Julie, and Arthur (Nicole) Baker all of Bolton Landing, NY, and beloved nephew of Peggy Dillon of Teresian House, Albany NY. David was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, and had worked over 30 years with NYS Dept of Tax & Finance. At the time of his retirement, he was the Director of the Estate Tax Division. For the past 21 years, he and his wife have owned and operated The Ledge Rock at Whiteface, a motel in Wilmington, NY. Mr. Baker was a member of the Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau for 21 years. He served on the Board of Directors for 6 years and as President for 3 years. He was also a member of the Lake Placid Essex County Visitors Bureau for 21 years and served one term on the Board of Directors. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, February 25th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 26th, at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Dave's memory, may make a donation to St. Agnes Church, Lake Placid, NY.
