I can almost hear Dr. Hart lifting his glass of single malt and singing to us The Parting Glass...
"Oh all the comrades that e'er I had,
Are sorry now for my going away.
And all the loved ones that e'er I had
Would wish me one more day to stay.
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should leave and you should not,
I'll gently rise and softly call
Goodnight, and joy be with you all.
Of all good times that e'er we shared,
I leave to you fond memory;
And for all the friendship that e'er we had
I ask you to remember me;
And when you sit and stories tell,
I'll be with you and help recall;
So fill to me the parting glass,
God bless, and joy be with you all."
Love, Maude

Although Dr. Hart was never my doctor during the years I lived in Lake Placid, on my frequent return visits I learned of the many kindnesses he provided for the local people. A great many of my old friends spoke very kindly of the good doctor and I carried away a very positive feeling of this good man. May he rest in peace and may his family be assured that a lasting legacy has been established. Jim Farley Fogelsville, Pennsylvania

On behalf of my father, Arthur Thompson, our family would like to thank Dr. Hart for bringing our family to Lake Placid in the very early 1960s as School Superintendent. Our 40 years as residents of this tiny mountain village gave us so many great memories and forged a wonderful life. Dr. Hart was a mentor and close friend of Dad's and he was very saddened to learn of his passing. Thank you, Dr. Hart, and safe travels to an even better place!

My uncle George was a kind and loving man who loved to treat those near to him with great respect. I know my Aunt Ruth and my cousins and their children will miss his presence greatly. He was a real class act and I wish I'd seen him one more time.

Dr. Hart was a fine man with a fine family. We knew him through St. Eustace Church and we always appreciated Ruth and him for letting the church use their beautiful garden for summer services over the years. We attended his 90th birthday and his mind was sharp as his wit! He will be missed.

I have SO many memories of Dr Hart; making house calls, letting himself in the back door and helping himself to a slice of cake in the kitchen as he left, stitching my knee when I was five, delivering all four of us (and then saying "that was a good crop") and allowing my father to be in the delivery room when I was born (not common in 1957), piercing my grandmother's ears when she requested it at the age of 88....He took good care of three generations of us for many years. Heartfelt condolences to all the Harts.

Mrs Hart, Nancy and the rest of the family. May my little story help ease your sadness at this time. When I worked at Uihlein 20 years ago there was a patient there who had been a patient of Dr Harts for nearly her whole adult life. When ever Dr Wilson prescribed something new for her she asked wanted me to, "Call George and make sure it was ok." I fibbed and told her I had called him and then several weeks later I saw him someplace and told him. He laughed and told me I was smart to tell her I had called. In his seventies and his patients were still his patients. Goes to show how people felt about him.
