CHAMPLAIN, NY - Geraldine (Gerry) E. Marquardt, age 83, formerly of Rouses Point and recently of the Frog Farm, passed away on May 24, 2014 at CVPH due to complications from diabetes, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 12, 1931 in Colchester, VT to Gerald and Elizabeth (Davis) Manning who predecease her. When her children were young, Gerry was a Girl Scout leader as well as a religion teacher for the Methodist church. She worked as a cook in Rouses Point at The Holland Hotel and Cedar Hedge Nursing Home. She also taught cooking skills to area families through the JCEO. She loved flower gardening, baking cookies, knitting and listening to country music. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 912. She enjoyed her family immensely, and cherished her cats Bert and Harry. Gerry is survived by her son Robert (Janice) St. John; daughters Bette (Donald) Garrand, and Barbara Burke; grandchildren Jennifer (Jay) Bulriss, Amber St. John, Christopher (Christine) Benyon, Dayna (Chuck) Enlow, Scott (Nicole) Garrand, Elizabeth Burke, Laura Ellen Flanigan, and Sgt. Jaclyn Mumford. Grandma also has 16 great-grandchildren and will be especially missed by Nicholas and Maritza St. John-Lester, and Dalton, Abigail, Keagan, and Marlee Enlow. She is also survived by brothers David (Rita) Manning of Plattsburgh, NY and George Manning of San Antonio, TX, several nieces and nephews and many friends including a very special couple, Bill and Claude Letourneau. She is predeceased by her first husband, George St. John in 1977 and her second husband, Ronald Marquardt in June 2001; brothers John, Howard, Wallace and Walter Manning; and daughter Bonnie LaFave in 2003. Gerry's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to her extended healthcare team and all their staff members including CVPH and Meadowbrook Healthcare. Her home healthcare aides, most recently Alaina Miller, Becky Lamica, Pamela Baker, and Amy Rock were excellent in attending to her daily needs as well as bringing so much joy into her home each day. And a special thank you also goes to Sam and Carol Castine (a.k.a. Mr. & Mrs. Meals-On-Wheels)-your daily visits and quick wit gave her so many chuckles. We also cannot forget the treasured friendships that Gerry enjoyed at the SUNY Plattsburgh Third Age Adult Day Center; thank you Chris Ouellette and your entire staff so much. At Geraldine's request, there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, NY.
