Ellis H. Smith, age 65, of McKinley St. Lake Placid, NY died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Mr. Smith was born October 25, 1948 in Saranac Lake, NY the son of the late Arnold E. and the late Loretta (Charland) Smith.
He was employed as a carpenter by Local 186, Plattsburgh, NY. Ellis loved to play cards and play cribbage he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two children, David Smith of Lake Placid, NY and Marcy Smith of Cadyville, NY; two brothers, Nelson Smith of Poland, NY and Philip Smith of Tupper Lake, NY; one sister, Beverly Martin of Jackson, NJ ; four grandchildren, Jeremiah, Chloe, Emma and Kayleigh. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling Hours will be held at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, Lake Placid, Thursday, June 26th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Lake Placid on Friday, June 27 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
