Champlain - Gerald G. Guay, 58, was entered into eternal peace on July 1, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Gerald was born on May 16, 1956. Son of the late Emile and Helene Guay of Champlain, NY, he was raised on their family farm and attended local schools. He was an avid farmer his entire life and rarely took a day off.
Gerald was a devote Catholic and regularly attended mass at St. Mary's Church in Champlain, NY. Being a shy man, he took great pride in passing the basket.
He was very passionate about his dairy farm and independently ran it while raising his family. He took great pride in passing on his experiences to friends and family.
Gerald appreciated the little things in life. He liked his privacy and enjoyed walks in the woods with his children, as well as, fishing, bonfires, ice skating, biking, horseback riding, debating and discussing the current events.
He is survived by his children; Tyler, Katie, Cody, and Alex, his brothers; Iva, Michael, Vincent, and Francis; and his sisters, Angele Laurin, Rosalie Tetrault, Cecile Hanfield, Veronica Belvel, Marielle Miller, and Julie Baker. Several brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his mother and father, Gerald was predeceased by his sister, Jeannette Beeman; and his brothers, Rolland and David, and brother in-law Paul Laurin.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Street, Champlain, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, as celebrant of the mass.
Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery on Church Street in Champlain.
