Dear Denise, Kelli, Stacey and Kathy - Just heard about Carlton, I am so sorry, know what you are going through. As you know we lost Duane in March. We were married 61 years. Remember we loved Carlton both as a friend and as a wonderful neighbor. I remember Denise going to camp with him and Kathy and the bear going into the camp at night. I will be thinking of you often. Love Anne & Denise

Denise,
I was saddened to learn of Carlton's passing. I have fond memories of my visits with Karen to your home in Lake Placid. Carlton was so kind and such an interesting man. I so enjoyed visiting with him and admiring his photos, woodworking, and stories of the north country. I know he will be missed by your family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Carlton was a frequent Hero to this grateful nephew. He was the maker of surprise basketball hoops, awaiting my return from a trip; the giver of a pocket knife when I stopped biting my nails; the "namer" of "Kevin's Falls," discovered on one of many beloved trips to camp; the crafty artist behind so many unique and impressive pieces, reflecting an uncommon diversity of skills and interests; and the answerer of calls and prayers when we were in need. Carlton taught without trying and shared without hesitation, always with a smile and a hint of magic. I always wanted to be like Carlton as a kid. I still do. He will be greatly missed.

Dad-It is hard to believe that I can't pick up the phone and ask how to fix this, how can I do that. Or Say to you I'm looking for this or do you know where I can find it, and you tell me not to worry it, I just make it for you. When someone would ask what is your father like. I would tell them, he was the kind of person you could put in a room full of stranger and within an hour he would become s hero as he is mine. You will forever be in my heart.

Dad,
How lucky was I to have you as my dad, I already miss your smile and sense of humor, your thoughtfulness to helping others and the great values you taught us. I want to thank you again for allowing me the honor of accompanying you on the honor flight to Washington, it was a great day and a memory I will hold in my heart forever, I never dreamed it would be the last day I spent with you. While there is a hole in my heart I know that you are at peace and no longer suffering. I love you always, Stacey

Grandpa-
No words will ever be able to express how much I miss you and will continue to every day. I will forever cherish all the memories and laughs we had ("ODD"), along with all the times you were there with whatever advice I needed. It kills me to know you won't just be a phone call away anymore when I need you but I know you will look over me along with the rest of our family. I am blessed to call you my grandpa as you are one of the best people that we were all so lucky to know. Thank you for being the man in my life that I have depended on and looked up to growing up, I love and miss you so much❤️

Carlton started out as a neighbor across the hall from us and became a dear, dear friend.we will miss so many things about him-his down home sense of humor, his many talents, and watching him at work in his backyard animal sanctuary. We will miss his warmth and generosity. He looked out for us and our place and that made us feel safe. His presence was "icing on the cake." We will miss him so much. He was a good man who left a great legacy behind for his family and friends.

My condolences go out to everyone who knew Carl. He was like a second father to me in my youth. He gave me the inspiration to follow him in the outdoor sports, hiking, hunting, and just to enjoy nature. I will miss him dearly. I can remember all the good times we had up at the "camp" , the Lamb's swimming pond and the big green house. I know that he is in GOD'S HANDS and at rest. GOD BLESS my friend.

Carlton had a big heart and a big smile. He would do anything to help someone and do it gladly. Call him day or night and he would be there to fix a plumbing problem; drive someone when they didn't have a car, etc. He had a great sense of humor and made people laugh. Denise, his wife, will miss him terribly as well as her sisters and their families.

I'm sad to know I won't see that sweet smile and those rosy cheeks again. But I find comfort knowing our family has another angel in Heaven to watch over us. I love you mountain man and I enjoyed our chats about vegetable and herb gardening. Thanks for spending time with all of the Sollien kids.

Carlton, we all miss you. You took care of us when we were sick. When anything was broken in our house you were the first person we called. Every christmas we looked forward to decorating holiday cookies with you. You were an amazing uncle and person. I hope to be as important of an uncle to my nephews as you were to me. We all miss you Carlton.

Grandpa I already miss you terribly. The next morning after you passed I was in an exam room prepping a patient for a shoulder injection and I started tearing up. He asked me what was wrong and I told him that you had passed and then I told him he reminded me of you. He's a retired sergeant major he's outdoorsy likes to fish and hunt dresses like you even drives a Toyota truck. I don't think there's going to be a day that I don't think about you or see someone who reminds me of you. I know you aren't in pain anymore but it still hurts my heart I'll love you always!
