Champlain James W. Dupee, 77, of LaValley Road, Champlain, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born March 19, 1937 in Chazy, NY a son of the late Edward Dupee and Della (Duprey) Bell. James was married to the former Catherine Duprey on March 11, 1957. She predeceased her on December 31, 2009. James was a very hard worker who worked for Northern Blacktopping in Morrisonville for 47 years. There wasn't anything James wouldn't do to help someone out in need. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed talking about hunting with his boys or with anyone who would listen. He remained active until illness took over and he could no longer fish or hunt. In addition to his wife, Catherine, James was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Dupee and two sisters Betty Mae Babbie and Lena Clausen. His loving family, who will miss him dearly, includes two daughters Roseann LaBombard and husband Ralph of Chazy, and Rosemary Forette and her husband Kevin of Mooers, seven sons Edward and Judy Dupee of Mooers, Ronald and Sharron Dupee of Mooers Forks, Walter and Lisa Dupee of Chazy, Paul and Jean Dupee of St. Albans, VT, Randy and Tracy Dupee of Champlain, Brian and Sharon Dupee of Daytona Beach, FL, and Donald Brunet of Altona. Twenty-five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great grandchildren expected in 2015. Additional survivors include one brother Russell of Mooers and four sisters Jane Hemmingway of Troy, Viola Castine of Champlain, Ruth and Ernie Behan of Champlain and Verda and Michael Fagan of Mooers. James is also survived by a nephew, Pete Babbie, whom he thought of more as a son than a nephew. Several additional nieces and nephews also survive. "I love you honey" At James' request there will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 31st at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Coopersville with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, celebrating the Mass. Interment will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Chazy, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
