Obituary of Joseph P. Canny

Joseph P. Canny, passed away February 4, 2015 at his home in Lake Placid, NY at the age of 89. He was born October 3, 1925 in Limerick, Ireland and came to America with his parents Michael and Kathleen (Dore) Canny. He lived in New Haven, CT with his parents and his sister, Mary Sandry and brother Thomas Canny all who predeceased him. He received his BS from Quinnipiac University graduating with honors. He served in the Marine Corps during WW II. Mr. Canny married Rickie Ann Wessinger in Nov. 1970. He worked for the State of CT as District Superintendent of Income Maintenance for the Dept. of Social Services. After early retirement his wife and he opened "The Sounding's" pre-school in in Gilford, CT where they also lived. He is survived by his wife, Rickie Ann and their two children, Wesley and Joanna all of Lake Placid, NY. Joseph P. Canny, passed away February 4, 2015 at his home in Lake Placid, NY at the age of 89. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Agnes School Library, 169 Hillcrest Ave., Lake Placid, NY 12946. The Canny family would like to invite family and friends for a time of fellowship and refreshments, Feb. 14th at 2:30 PM at the Down Town Diner on Main St., Lake Placid.
