Champlain Rita Marion LaBombard, 90, formerly of Oak Street, Champlain, passed away Sunday, February 8th, 2015 at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born November 27, 1924 in Ellenburg Center, NY, the only daughter of Joseph and Delia (Trudelle) LaBombard. Rita was a life resident of the area and attended local schools. She was a devout Roman Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Champlain for many years, and was an honorary member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Lily of the Mohawk. Rita was an Associate of Daughters of Charity of the Sacred Heart and was founder and manager of St. Mary's Mission Center. She will be sadly missed by many of her friends and colleagues in the community. In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her step-father, James Nichols, and a half-sister, Blanche Bilow-Malone. A Calling Hour will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Street, Champlain, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Calling Hour at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, celebrating the mass. Interment will be at a later date in St. Edmund's Cemetery, Ellenburg, NY.
