Obituary of Ralph J. Preston

Ralph J. Preston, age 60, of Patch Lane, Lake Placid, NY died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home. Mr. Preston was born March 11, 1952 in Lake Placid, NY. He was the son of George "Bubby" and Catherine (Barber) Preston. He was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1971. He retired from Lake Placid Municipal Electric Dept. as a(n) Electrician Groundsman after 25 Years. If there was one word that could be used to describe Ralph, it would be "selfless". He always put others before himself. He showed what unconditional love truly is and what it means to serve others. Ralph Preston was and always will be remembered as a loving husband, noble father, adored Poppy, loyal friend, Yankees fan and man of God. Philippians 4:1-4 encourages us to imitate Christ's humility, and Ralph has truly done that! Ralph always encouraged people to trust God more regardless of circumstance. When Ralph was diagnosed, "Trust God More" bracelets were given to others to wear as a reminder of God's faithfulness. The family wishes to continue this legacy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "Trust God More" fund in memory of Ralph to Lake Placid Baptist Church at 2253 Saranac Ave, Lake Placid, NY 12946. He is survived by his wife: Melinda(Smith) Preston ; his father George and mother Catherine (Barber) Preston of Lake Placid, NY; one son Benjamin Preston of Syracuse, NY; two daughters, Rachel Martin and her husband Justin of Round Hill, VA and Becca Lewis and her husband Dain of Saranac Lake, NY. He is also survived by three brothers, Mike Preston of Lake Placid, NY, David Preston of Lake Placid, NY and Jason Prestonand his wife Lisa of Upper Jay, NY; two sisters, Patti Preston and her son David of Lake Placid, NY and Betty Fortune and her husband George of Lake Placid, NY; four grandchildren, Maleeya, Mariana and Makkai Martin and Easton RJ Lewis and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. There are no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held Monday, July 16th at 11:00 AM at Lake Placid Baptist Church, Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. Rev. Derek Spain will officiate. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.
