Obituary of Barbara A. Wilkins

Rouses Point Barbara A. Wilkins, 69, of Lake Street, Rouses Point, formerly of Champlain, passed away Saturday, February 21st, 2015 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Champlain, NY October 25, 1945 daughter of the late Raymond L. and Irene H. (Ives) Cooke. Barbara was a life resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Champlain. She worked various jobs throughout the years in the area. She worked at Pamphlon's, making vestments for the clergy, at Free Port as a sales clerk, and at Top's supermarket in Champlain for many years. She most recently worked as a driver for JCEO in Plattsburgh. Barbara enjoyed playing cards, going bowling, outings to the casino and reading romance novels. Although her favorite past times were going to Bingo and dotting on her two grandchildren, Kylie and Ryan. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Irene and by a sister Virginia M. (Cooke) Pratt. Her loving family includes her son, John Wilkins and his wife, Sandra, and her son Bryan Wilkins, her two grandchildren Kylie and Ryan Wilkins, her brothers Richard R. Cooke and wife, Pauline, and Donald G. Cooke and companion Carolyn LaMountain, her former spouse and dear friend, Larry Wilkins, a special uncle, Elmer Ives, her brother-in-law Orville Pratt, and sister-in-law Brenda Cooke, and Barb's special friend, Steve Duffina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, February 24th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church street, Champlain, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hour at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the church with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, celebrating the Mass. Interment will be at a later date in the parish cemetary on Church Street. Contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to the family or masses in her memory. Arrangements are in the care of M.B.
