Obituary of Mattie Marie Southmayd

Mattie Marie Southmayd, age 88, of Cascade Rd., Lake Placid, NY died Friday, March 20, 2015 at AMC-Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid, NY after a brief Illness. Mrs. Southmayd was born January 22, 1927 in Piercefield, NY the daughter of Alfred and Alma (Musgrove) Reid. She was the wife of Lynn H. Southmayd, Sr., Mr. Southmayd passed away December 11, 1989. Mrs. Southmayd had worked in Lake Placid at the Lake Placid Club, Holiday Inn and the Crowne Plaza. She loved spending time with her family and her cats. Mattie loved to read. She enjoyed her soaps especially Days of our Lives and General Hospital, she also watched Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. Mattie will be greatly missed she loved and was loved by all who knew her. She was survived by her son, Lynn H. Southmayd, Jr. and her daughter Alma Southmayd both of Lake Placid, NY. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Alma, her husband Lynn, and her son Harry all whom she missed dearly. Calling Hours will be held at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Monday, March 23rd from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a funeral service at the funeral home at 4:00 PM. Rev. John Martin, pastor of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid will officiate. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Jay, NY in the spring.
