Obituary of Janice Joan Wilson

Janice Dame Wilson, age 86, of McKinley Street, Lake Placid, NY passed away Friday, April 3rd, 2015 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on July 4th, 1928. She spent her early life in D'Youville Academy orphanage and moved to Lake Placid as a teenager to work at a boarding house owned by the Mazuzan family. She later worked as a waitress at Ruth's Diner and as a nurse's aide at Uihlein Mercy Center. She married Philip Lawrence Wilson on May 1st, 1948 in a ceremony at St. Agnes Church. With her husband Phil, she ran the Teen Canteen in Lake Placid for five years. Phil and Janice provided foster care to many children. They also started their own business, Wilson's Rug & Upholstery Cleaning Service. She cared lovingly for Phil until his death in April 1999. Janice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Wood of Canton, NY, and son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Louise Wise of Milton, VT, brother-in-law Robert Wilson of Lake Placid , grandchildren, Nicole Dutton, Marissa Parisi and Danielle Parisi, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 11th at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lake Placid, NY. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory at the Tri-Lakes Humane Society or Mercy Care for the Adirondacks. The M. B.
