Obituary of Sebastian Lammann

Sebastian Lammann, age 95, of Station Street, Lake Placid, NY passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2015 at his home. Mr. Lammann was born December 4, 1919 in Dorocske, Hungary the son of Sebastian and Magdalena (Prescher) Lammann Sebastian was a machinist/tool and die maker and was a member of the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America. He worked as a Tool Room Mechanic. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Shipyard, Staten Island, NY as a(n) Tool Room Machinist at the Bethlehem Steel Shipyards in Staten Island, New York and for several other industrial manufacturers in New Jersey during his career. He retired in 1983. He received his education in Hungary and Austria. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Linz Austria and settled in Avon-By-The-Sea, NJ. He owned his property in Lake Placid, NY since 1979 and summered here until moving full time in 1998. He very much enjoyed the mountains. Gardening and feeding the birds. Sebastian is survived by his brother George Lammann of Hungary; one son, Stephen Lammann and his wife Karen of Lake Placid, NY and Spring Lake, NJ; two granddaughters, Nicole Houri and her husband Pierre of Paris France and Amelia Lammann of Bloomfield, NJ as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Magdalena Lammann; his parents, Sebastian and Magdalena (Presher) Lammann and his sister Margareta Tenta. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 1:00 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc., Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. Rev. Eric Olsen will officiate. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid, NY. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lake Placid Vol. Ambulance Service or a charity of your choice.
