Obituary of Katherine AKA Catherine Mary O'Neill

Catherine Brewster O'Neill passed away on Friday, June 12th at the age of 95. She had been a resident of Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid for the past 8 years and passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Catherine was born in Lake Placid on January 14, 1920, to Frank Brewster and Bessie Belmore. Catherine had been a member of St. Agnes church since her birth. She had her first communion in St Agnes Church in 1933. Catherine had worked in and around Lake Placid for many years. In her earlier years she worked at Marshalls Drugstore and was a private cook for Mr. and Mrs. Prime. Most notably Catherine worked for the Butlers at Howard Johnson for 25 years. She was locally famous for her homemade pies, soups and jellies. Anyone who had the pleasure of having one of her pies, knew they were the best around. Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband Hubert O'Neill, 5 brothers- Bernard Brewster, Eugene (Gene) Brewster, Johnny Brewster, Francis (Butchy) Brewster, and Richard Brewster. She is survived by 2 sisters- Doris Bonfante and Barbara Bonfante, both of Buffalo. She is also survived by 2 nephews, Steve Brewster of Lake Placid (who was more of a son than a nephew to her), Joe Brewster of Lake Placid and a niece Vicky Graham of Lake Placid. There are many other nieces and nephews as well, from New York to California. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Reiss Memorial Chapel at Uihlein Living Center, Lake Placid on Thursday June 18th at 12:00 pm. There will be a private burial in the fall at St. Agnes Cemetery. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.
