Obituary of Lillian B. Knowles

Lillian B. Knowles, 90, formerly of Champlain passed away Friday, July 31st, 2015 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. Lillian was born in Champlain, NY on December 12th, 1924 to parents Arthur Gooley and Pearl (Seymour) Gooley. Lillian attended St. Mary's Academy in Champlain, NY. She enjoyed playing basketball in in her junior high school years. Lillian was a past Catholic Daughter and a member of the American Legion Post in Champlain, NY. Lillian loved to travel. She was a true world traveler that loved to visit new and exciting places. Lillian spent many years traveling with her friends in the "Al's" Sunshine Senior Travel Club." Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Eugene Knowles, son, Gerald and daughter, Sally Ann. Lillian is survived by her children, Jeffrey Knowles(Champlain, NY) and daughter Patricia Poissant (Champlain, NY). Sister, Joyce Ondras (Rudy)of Champlain, NY. Brothers Orville and James Gooley predeceased Lillian. Lillian was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren whom she held a special place in her heart for. Grand children Tamie (Knowles) Herring (Andrew), Thomas Knowles (Shanda), and Dylan Poissant held a most special place in her heart. Visits from great grandchildren Myla Knowles and Aiden Herring brought Lillian joy and happiness. Lillian was blessed with previous daughter in-laws which included Madeline Bourdeau, whom she remained close with over the past years. Lillian considered Madeline as a second daughter. Daughter inlaw, Betsy LeClaire (deceased)remained close to Lillian's heart always. Daughter in-law Karen Knowles, always showed great kindness and compassion to Lillian, most especially in her final years at Meadowbrook. Lillian was an adventurous spirit that loved life, sadly Alzheimer's robbed Lillian of her final years of living with the zest and happiness that she had always lived her life with. Lillian will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church Street, Champlain, with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, celebrating the Mass. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery on Church Street. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street, Champlain, NY.
