Shirley was very instrumental in helping me start my career for which I will be forever grateful. I'll always remember the lunches we shared at the Mirror Lake Cottage and her giving me advice about business and networking.
She always spoke fondly of her children and grandchildren and family. Shirley will be missed by all.

Elaine, Nancy, Eddie and Mr. Seney,
I'm so glad that I was able to see your mom at the Alumni Banquet in June. She had such nice things to say about my Dad and today I return the compliment. Your Mom was a terrific person and an inspiration to everyone in the Placid Community. Hold her dear in your hearts and it will make her passing a little easier to bear. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Here is a poem that has touched Tod and I and has comforted us.
To the living, I am gone;
To the sorrowful, I will never return;
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace;
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
In your thoughts, and your memories…
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you remember me and think of me, I will never have gone.

My thoughts and prayers are with our communities as we celebrate this wonderful friend and all the many blessings she bestowed on everyone she met. I first met Shirley through her sister at Uhlein and then found her once again at church in SL. She sat in the pew in front of me and told me to join the choir. I thought she meant because I could sing well but later she told me the truth that I sang way too loud and the choir needed 'loud' singers. She was always so fun and so funny and humor was her blessing to so many. She will always live on in our hearts and thoughts for she left a lasting impression on living a good Christian life of giving and receiving in a balanced style. May you now rest in the loving arms of our Jesus as He welcomed you into the heavens saying, "Well done my good and faithful servant".
