Obituary of Mary Jane Lawrence

Mary Jane Lawrence, 71, of 260 Mill Pond Drive, Lake Placid, NY passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY. She was born in Lake Placid, NY March 26th, 1944, the daughter of Clarence and Violet (Bruce) Hare. In 1970 Mary Jane married Phillip Lawrence and she and Phillip made their home in Lake Placid, NY. She independently ran and operated the popular Lake Placid Drugs luncheonette for many years. She also worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Uihlein Mercy Center. She retired in 2005 as manager of Fanfare Gift Store to spend more time with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter Julie Henderson of Lake Placid, NY Two sons, Jody Charland and his wife Terri of Bluffton, SC and Bryan Lawrence of Scotia, NY. She is also survived by two sisters Joyce Planty and her husband Leon and Judy Bova; three brothers, Tom and his wife Gloria Hare, George and his wife Donna Hare, Richard Hare; four grandchildren, Joshua Henderson, Ryan Charland, Shawna and her husband Brian Conley and Devyn Lawrence, one great-grandchild Zoe Conley and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Phillip Lawrence and by two brothers, Bruce Hare, Clarence (Bud) Hare, and two sisters, Betty Levitt and Connie Bola. Calling hours will be held Wednsday, December 2nd from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M.B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Avenue, Lake Placid, NY. A Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 3th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Kenneth Mihill will officiate. Burial will follow at the North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid, NY.
