Cheley and family....You may know that Bill was one of my very best adult friends...we go way back to the Snow Ridge days where we three (Bill, Rudi Kuersteiner and myself) built that first (and only) motel of our careers...Oh the wonderful skiing days, the parties , and all the other fun things that we young married couples did...
Anyway we kept in touch even into the days when Mary and I were living and working at Gorsuch, Ltd in Vail... Gosh, how we all will miss Bill..he was truly a wonderful friend, and a great example ..
Our condolences to you all and to Doug...

Dear Cheley & Family, I absolutely adored your husband! As you know he was the most kind hearted, generous man on the planet! I fondly referred to him as Santa Claus and always called him that as if it were his name. Do you remember the story about him picking up a hitchhiker coming home from the PALACE I sold him in Tupper Lake He befriending this man, although I gave him hell for picking up someone, but Santa ended up giving him his old skies! Santa will be missed by many!

My condolences. I met Bill when I was a teenager working in my fathers shop. Bill was our K2 rep. I remember him being very kind and was very patient and informative to a kid who was trying to learn the business. I seem to remember him living in Rutland at the time. I haven't seen him in years and really didn't know him well but whenever I think of that era in this business, Bill always comes to mind.

Cheley. We are saddened to hear the loss of Bill. He was a great man! He was intelligent, witty, soft spoken but always got the point across!! Reading his obituary, we never knew all he had accomplished. In the last year or so, whenever we spoke, he always expressed how he wanted to take care of everything for you before he left this earth....always concerned about you, Cheley...such great love. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Jody and Margaret

Billy's passing brought back a flood of memories of a wonderful guy who inspired all he met with his down to earth grasp of what is truly meaningful in our lives. He was a key ingredient in the birth of K2, helping to build the Company into the American icon it became.
Always fond thoughts and he will live on in the hearts of all who had the distinct honor to know him.

Bill I'll miss you..... I all ready do. You walked into my life when I was just 19 years old (46 yrs ago) at Bristol Mt. You gave your Spademan binding clinic and when you were done I knew what I wanted to do. Be like you and work in the ski business. The days of skiing together at Snow Ridge and Whiteface are still fresh in my mind. The late nights of downing a few and solving the problems of the ski industry are memories that I'll have forever. RIP old friend.
Cheley, Terri and I send our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Oh Wittso. Just opened your letter a few days ago. Rather then picking up the phone and discussing the matter at hand I said to myself, lets just let this rest for a couple of days.
And then you were gone.
I
'll miss you. I'll miss our times at the Trade Shows, times spent at your house, conversations, black rattlers. We never skied together, but we sure had plans.
My son, who did not like the job I forced him into said to me as we were discussing Bill's passing that the only person that could change his frame of mind at trade shows was Bill.
I had no idea. Just shows you how great a mentor and salesman Bill was.
I could go on for a long time about all the great times we shared.
RIP Bill.

Bill Witte was nearly as much of a mentor to me as my dad, but I will remember him as a brother or the ski industry. He could carve a high speed turn with the best and never appeared to be on the edge of loosing control. I called him "The Hugger" many hears ago because his skis just seemed to hug whatever challenging trail we shared. He was as honest and sincere a man as I was ever blessed to meet and knowing him made me a better person. I believe there are endless deep powder and groomed corduroy runs waiting for us in Heaven. I know Wittso preferred the corduroy, but I look forward to arcing some turns with him in Heaven on whatever run he chooses.
Cheley, Marsha and I send of our love and condolences.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Chelley and all your family. I will always remember Bill as being a great guy and very optimistic about life. I was bitching one day about the ski business and Bill stopped me and said, "Take a step back, look around you, its not really that bad, and you don't have to put on a coat and tie every day and go to an office!!"
Thanks for the memories!
