I became friends with Pennie only a few years ago. I wish I had known her for a longer time but her children and friends have done a great job of describing all the ways she was special. Pennie was one of those people who was able to empathize with anyone, human or animal. If you had a problem she listened carefully and then offered advice. She made you feel better. In the short time I knew her I witnessed the ways she tried to help others even when she might not be feeling well herself. She put her children's and grandchildren's needs ahead of her own. Last winter I helped her gather several boxes of food for one particular family in need. Finally, we shared a love for animals and we helped each other care for our dogs. She loved Marley Mae and I think they shared the same spirit. I miss our morning phone conversations and I will miss her friendship forever.

I am heartbroken yet understand life knows what it is doing better than I do. We were planning a hiking trip for 2016. I am still going to do it in memory and honor of Pennie and my cousin Gary.
Here's my Pennie story.
There's a road trip to Saratoga sometime around 1991 or 1992. Just the cast of characters...
Pennie, Pierre, myself, my cousin Gary, my cousin Matt, Billy Reed, Burt, Pennie's brother. Quite the spontaneous party broke out and Matt and I visited the swamp and made it out alive as Burt had a hard night in pain. All in all it was just right in some full moon club sort of way...
Here it is almost a full moon as I write these words. Seems fitting... Pennie's spirit was something you needed to experience. No words can really do it justice. I love you and miss you Pennie and all I ask is that you Rest In Peace. And this doesn't mean that I can not wish you a Merry Christmas. So Pennie I wish you a Merry Christmas in heaven.
