Obituary of Elmer D Ives

Elmer D. Ives, 92, of Cane St., Champlain, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at UVM Health Network/ CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born May 4, 1923 a son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Dupuis) Ives. Following High School, Elmer enlisted in the US Navy and served his country during the WWII era. Elmer worked for many years in Connecticut as a Foreman in manufacturing. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #1418 in Rouses Point, and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Champlain. Elmer's greatest joy, just about his entire life, was boating in both Connecticut and New York. His loving family includes his sister-in-law, Marcella Ives of Rouses Point, his nieces and nephews: Richard and Pauline Cooke, Donald Cook and companion Caroline LaMountain, Leo and Norma Langevin, Judy Ives, Josephine Langevin, Orville Pratt, Larry Wilkins, and Brenda Cooke. Also surviving is Elmer's care giver, Sarah Miner and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Elmer was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Ann (Cameron) Ives, his brothers, Albert, Merrill, James, and Charles Ives, his sisters, Irene Cooke and Gertrude Langevin, and nieces, Virginia Pratt, Barbara Wilkins, and nephew James Langevin. A Calling Hour will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Church, 86 Church St., Champlain, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, celebrating the mass. Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
