Obituary of Amelia L. Martin

Amelia L. Martin "Sally", age 86, of Lake Placid, NY passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. Mrs. Martin was born January 11, 1930 in Schenectady, NY the daughter of Harry and Marguerite (Pelkey) MacDonald. She married Hugh L. Martin November 27, 1950. Sally was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1947, She had worked in Lake Placid, NY as a telephone operator and went on to work at Farmington High School, Farmington, CT as a(n) Head Cook for several years. She also worked for Petroleum Meter & Pump Co., as an assistant in the repair Department. She retired in 1988 and moved back home to Lake Placid, NY. Sally loved animals and was a dedicated volunteer and assisted in running Pet Care in Lake Placid for several years. She would always great you with a smile while gathering Pet Care Donation Cans with her friends, Mrs. Aust and Miss. Dillon. She was a member of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, NY. Sally loved to bake and make homemade fudge, she would share her treats throughout the area with her many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Davis and her husband Ralph of Calais, VT; Three sons Randy Martin and his wife Patricia of Farmington, CT, Russell Martin and his wife Pamela of East Grandby, CT, and Richard Martin and his wife Ann of New Lothrop, MI. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Marguerite MacDonald, her husband, Hugh Martin in 1991and one son, Robert Martin in 2000. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 20th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, Lake Placid, NY. A Funeral Service will follow Calling Hours at the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tri Lakes Humane Society, 255 George Lapan Memorial Hwy., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
