Jeanette "Jenny" H. Matott, 91, of Champlain passed away peacefully at home with her family on July 1, 2016. She was born the daughter of Winslow and Edith (Scott) Gokey on December 30, 1924. In 1943 she married, Maynard "Buster" Matott, who passed away on February 11, 1990.
Jeanette enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, gardening, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Everyone was always welcomed to stop in for coffee and cookies. Her selfless giving and love for her family will forever be cherished.
Jeanette is survived by her companion, Donald Pelkey, of Champlain; two sons, Larry (Murielle) Matott of Champlain, Richard (Karen) Matott of Scotia; two grandaughters, Vicki (Cris) Babbie of Champlain, Stephanie (Danny) Drown of Mooers; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Alise and Sierra Babbie of Champlain; Henry McAleer of Montreal, who was thought of as a son by Jeanette and Buster; one sister, Wilamena "Huck" Moore of Plattsburgh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Jeanette was predeceased by many siblings and their spouses.
A special thanks to North Country Home Services and Hospice of the North Country for providing exemplary care to Jeanette during her long illness.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Mooers, NY. Donations may be made in Jeanette's memory to Hospice of the North Country, 358 Tom Miller Rd, Plattsburgh, NY. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
