Obituary of Clara B. Matott

Clara Gokey Matott, 86, of 87 McBride Road, Chazy, died peacefully Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving children. During her illness, she was cared for by her children with the loving assistance of Robin Snide with Hospice of the North Country. Clara was born in Mooers, NY on April 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Winslow and Edith (Scott) Gokey. She married Leo Matott on April 29, 1944 at the home of her parents in Chazy, NY. Clara and Leo were dedicated to dairy farming all of their lives. Her greatest passions were her cooking, berry picking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Paul Matott, Edith Gadway and husband Derrick and Rose Matott, her grandchildren, Leo Matott and wife Nadine, Amy Rich, Jamie Matott, Brandon McIntyre, and Micheal Gadway, her great-grandchildren Seth Matott, Wyatt Matott, Payton McIntyre, Lily McIntyre Montana Rich, Demetrius Rich and Leo Kamburelis, her sisters Janet Matott, Alice Barcomb and Wilhelmina Moore, a sister-in-law, Celine Paquette and a special friend, Shelia Duprey who was life a daughter to Clara. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and to her husband, Leo, who passed away October 4, 2004, Clara was predeceased by a grandson Travis LeClair, and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Evo Bartoletti, Anna and Ray Upton, Gloria and Elden Upton, Harold Barcomb, Theodore Moore, Maynard Matott, Clifford and Catherine Matott, Orville and Barbara Matott, Elita Matott and Hiram Abare, Evelyn Matott, Dan Yelle, Harold Matott and Lawrence Paquette. A Calling Hour was be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012 at M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, NY 12919. Graveside services followed in Riverside Cemetery, Route 11, Mooers, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
