Obituary of Agnes L. Bechard

Agnes Louise Tetreault Bechard, 97, formerly of Coopersville, NY entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 23, 2012 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her family by her side. She was born January 21, 1915 in Central Falls, RI, a daughter of the late Eldege and Marie (Poulin) Tetreault.
For many years, Agnes, lived on her farm at Kings Bay in Coopersville, NY and most recently resided and the Emory House and Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. She was employed at Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge, MA for a time and was a private nanny to the Tierney family in Chelsea, MA.
She was of Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Coopersville, and was a member of the St. Ann's Altar Rosary Society and the Farm Bureau. Agnes was a very energetic and fiercely independent lady. She took great pride in her summer flower and vegetable gardens. She loved crocheting colorful blankets for her family, and when entertaining, was a fabulous hostess.
Agnes married Albert Bechard on September 1, 1938, and upon becoming a loving farmer's wife, they together, raised seven children and ran a successful farm. There were many years of dancing together and playing cards with their special and dear friends, Alphonse and Corine Bechard. In later years, the couple enjoyed their retirement spending winters in Florida.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, an infant daughter, her brothers Raymond, Louis, Emile and George Tetreault and her sisters, Therese Anctil, Rita Laurin and Sr. Emma Tetreault.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Margaret Bechard of Champlain, Bryan and Annie Bechard of Highgate, VT and Luke and Suli Bechard of Waipahu, HI, three daughters and sons-in-law, Bruce and Joan Seguin of Champlain, Richard and Therese Fosher of Champlain and Robert and Maria Fosher of Brockport, NY, two brothers Michael and Felix Tetreault, and two sisters Marie DiCarlo and Alice Tetreault.
She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Emory House, especially, Char, and the staff at Meadowbrook who provided such a caring environment during her journey. They are also very grateful to the staff at Great North Woods Medical and the staff on R-6 at CVPH for all the wonderful care.
Calling Hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 148 Lake St., Rouses Point.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Thursday, September 27, at St. Joseph's Church, Mason Road, Coopersville, NY with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, pastor, celebrating the mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Clinton County Office for the Aging or to St. Joseph's Church in care of the funeral home.
