We are deeply sorry for your loss. We met John when he and a group of his friends stayed at our cabin in 2010. He was such an enthusiastic young man and his friends were awesome too. I did not have the opportunity to meet John. I have, however, had the opportunity to come to know Grace by working with her in Augusta and hear her talk often of her family.
I knew John had to be as exceptional and accomplished as Grace. From reading about him this past week, I learned I was right.

Aimee, Grace & John,
There are no words to comfort you in your time of Grief.
Shannon and Dylan will be there and I will be there in Spirit. We will light 3 candles at church tomorrow and pray for some peace in your broken hearts.
My memories of Joe were him tearing past me at lightning speed in the U.S rink with "sparkling eyes" and a "grin" that

I am a teacher at Sierra Nevada College. John took a few classes with me, including my elective courses. He was one of my favorite students, one of my very favorite. He put a smile on my face so often simply by walking into class. He was one of the sweetest, kindest, most infectiously good presences in my class. Everyone at the college loved him. He was a force. I will miss him deeply.

I met John on a 4th of July in Lake Placid some years ago. I wandered down to the front of the library with a friend to watch the fireworks at the last minute. We were drawn to a big party going on down the way, and happened to meet John. He immediately welcomed us strangers, and offered the use of canoes etc. We connected about snowboarding and mutual friends.
I never really knew him after that night, but after reading the many posts on facebook the last few days, I realize that I encountered his well known and loved energy and friendliness that night.

John, we were never too close of friends, but the days we lapped the mountain together were always rad. You were always an inspiration and fun to be around. To the Wilkins family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain this brings but people will never forget the way John made us feel.
I spent hundreds of days with John at Whiteface Mtn where we both attended NSA and rode through NYSEF. He introduced me to a side of snowboarding I had never known. Everyday was the new best day. He taught me to smile after every fall.
Wilkins was my first snowboard friend. I was from New Jersey, visiting Lake Placid on weekends, and he would call me every Friday night to make sure I would be there in the morning. And then ride with me all weekend and introduce me to all of his friends. He made me feel so welcome and at home. And I think everyone he encountered would agree that he made you feel comfortable. I will never forget the times we spent together.

To the family of John,
I went to Northwood and I knew John through mutual friends of ours (Jake Doan, Becca Lindsay and Alex Morton) and although John and I did not know each other for a great length of time, I really feel compelled to say to you just how friendly and inviting John was in all my experiences with him!
I hope you can find solace in the knowledge that John was so loved, admired and appreciated by so many!
I still have a Hardway hoodie in the cupboard in my apartment. I'm going to put it on, crack open a beer and drink in celebration of a beautiful person I had the honour to share some laughter with! Here's to you John!

My condolences to the Wilkins family. It is difficult to even write this or to even think that he is no longer among us, but rather watching over us.
I met Johnny when I started SNC in 2013. He was always so outgoing, polite and kind hearted. Out of the many memories I shared with him, one stands out in my mind. On a beautiful Tahoe day last summer, about seven of us spent the day at Hidden Beach. We drank Carlos Rossi and PBR until the sun was about to set. John then invited us to grill at his house which he shared with Logan. We spent the whole afternoon and night talking, laughing and listening to music. It was one of those perfect days. It would not have happened without John. He brought us all together.
His passing has now brought all of SNC together. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet Johnboy, the guys with the amazing golden hair. He will always be remembered. I will take his caring and loving personality wherever I go. He is in my prayers. May God bless you.
