We are glad that we had the opportunity to share our lives with Tom. He was a very gallant person to survive his catastrophic injury with such dignity. We saw that even in his last years he was always at peace and would also be cheerful. We are grateful to be a part of his family and to have shared time with him. We will miss him dearly.

Sandy Izzo posted a condolence

I had not met Tom until after his swimming accident. Tom was the MOST beautiful soul. Despite his broken body, Tom gave so much more than I could possibly give or imagine giving. He was an example of the living Christ. Always kind and gentle, yet strong, Tom would bring feelings of kindness and love simply by walking into his presence. He had a sharp mind and helped so many from his bed as well as ran his business strong right from his home. He was a great story teller of his many wilderness adventures. He especially loved his family and Gimme. We will all miss you, Tom, but you are now walking with the Lord and your presence will still be felt. Special love to Sharon, Tom Jr., and Casey.

No words can describe how sorry I am for your loss. Tom sounded like a wonderful, loving, strong and kind soul. He must have loved his family dearly to have held on so long.
Thinking of you today and sharing in your sorrow with love and friendship.

My dear Sharon,
Only you can feel the pure sadness of Tom's death. Your consolation should be that you are the reason he has survived, and lived, and loved, and been loved for all these years. May God hold him in his arms and care for him as you have shown.
Hugs, Peggy
