Obituary of Bonnie L. Fitz-James

Bonnie Fitz-James passed away on May 30, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie was born April 2, 1955 in Amsterdam, NY to Robert and Helen Fitz-James. She is survived by her fiancé Eric Lincoln, their five Golden Retrievers, two cats and her Golden Doodle, Milhaus of widespread fame. She is also survived by her brothers Barry and Robert Fitz-James, Robert's wife Vivian and nieces and nephews Ian, Emily, Bridget and Sullivan; sisters-in-law Debra Laurito, Brenda Dicintio and Susan Devlin and their families; and many wonderful, close friends and relative including cousins Butch and Karen Morrell.

Bonnie attended Amsterdam High School and SUNY Potsdam where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Sociology and Pathology. She moved to Lake Placid in 1980 to work during the Winter Olympics and fell in love with the area, making it her home. She soon opened Groomingdales Pet Salon. She became involved in boat and snowmobile rentals, establishing Captain Marney's Boat Rentals which she owned and operated with Gary Bishop for many years.

Bonnie was an avid walker and could always be seen walking the streets and trails of Lake Placid with her beloved Golden Doodle Milhaus, no matter the season or the weather. She loved to dress Milhaus in celebration of the holidays bringing joy and smiles to both residents and visitors of Lake Placid alike. She was active in the Lake Placid Lions Club as well as numerous animal shelter and rescue charities. Bonnie was thoughtful and generous, always willing to help friends and the community.

A visitation will be held on Saturday June 3rd from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at M.B. Clark, Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave, Lake Placid, NY 12946. In lieu of flowers donations should be made in Bonnie's loving memory to local animal rescues and shelters.
