Joi Lynnette Terry Strong, 46, of Rouses Point, New York, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at her home in Rouses Point. A memorial service will be held at M. B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street, Champlain, New York at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 with Alexandra McManus of Church of Light in East Orange, New Jersey officiating. Joi was born on November 27, 1970 in Illinois, daughter of Carolyn Watkins Terry and James Terry. She graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1988 and continued her education at Illinois State University and Rutgers University. Joi worked in the retail industry and was always highly praised for her performance, friendly demeanor with customers as well as co-workers. Growing up, Joi was active in her church, St. John Baptist Church in Alton. At the age of 7, she was baptized and received fellowship under Reverend Thomas Wright. She was very active in Sunday school, the choirs, ushering, plays and helped in other projects at St. John Baptist Church. She later became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Joi is survived by her beloved son, Jonathan Perez, of Rouses Point, New York and his father, Alexander Perez of Austin, Texas; fiancée, Jean-Francois Doyon of Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Canada; father, James Terry; aunts Catherine Terry Smith and Linda Watkins; uncle David Watkins, all of Alton, Illinois, friend and Aunt to Jonathan, Alexandra McManus, as well as many cousins, great aunts, family and cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Watkins Terry, grandparents, Frederick and Harriett Watkins and Azzie and Carrie Terry, special uncle, Paul Watkins. She is also survived by former spouse, Steven Strong of Ashington, Northumberland, England. Memorial donations may be made to Jonathan Perez, c/o M. B.
