Marie Lucienne Lafountaine, 98, went to the arms of the Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Essex County Nursing Home. She was born in Lacolle, Quebec on October 21, 1919. On the third of May, 1939 she married her husband, Joseph Lafountaine, and together they owned and operated the Chazy Hotel for a time. They then moved to Champlain, NY where they opened the Maple Inn Restaurant. Mr. Lafountaine passed away December 8, 1955, leaving Lucienne to operate the restaurant and cabins on her own for 35 years.
Along with her husband, Lucienne was predeceased by her mother Anna Pinsonneault (Laroche), her father Dominic Pinsonneault, and her five brothers, Nartbert, Dolard, Paul, Omer, and Delphise Pinsonneault. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A brief visitation will take place at St. Mary's Church in Champlain at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery on Church Street.
Donations may be made to St. Mary's Church. Arrangements are in the care of M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain, NY.
